Description: At the second quarter of the 19th century, the Syriac Orthodox began their immigration to Bethlehem and started to settle there in 1838. In 1922 Mar Afram Syriac orthodox charity was established. Five years later, the charity bought a number of ramshackle buildings in Al Hrezat quarter and built the virgin church for Syriac orthodox in their place. After the Sayfo genocide that took a place in Tur Abdin hills, The Syriac orthodox migration to Bethlehem increased. Nowadays, the Syriac Orthodox presence in the area (Al Hrezat Quarter) is the most significant one due to having a sports club, Library, church and a meeting hall within the quarter
